2. Endowment: An endowment will be established which will represent 8% of the total program budget; this endowment will be managed by Merrill Lynch. Program DevelopmentlOversightlStafffing: The WSF will staff the project with a team of experts consisting of the current Associate Executive Director and Grants/Awards Manager. PM YSP's funding will assist in the WSF hiring a Program Coordinator and an Intern to manage the day-to-day program execution. In addition, PM YSP's funding will also serve to provide a stipend for a graduate assistant who has expertise to develop and integrate health risk editorial into the SportsTalk newsletter. A Blue Ribbon Expert Panel will also be formed to oversee the development of all program education and evaluation materials. The panel will consist of academic and health experts, teen girls, and a professional sports player. Proposed panelists are outlined on pages 12-13 of the proposal. The kit will consist of the following components: Coaches Guide: This instructional guide will include a curriculum designed to assist coaches in conducting 12 lessons related to athlete testimonials which are highlighted within the Playbook that each girl receives (details on the Playbook follow below), information on program administration and evaluation, suggestions on using the sport setting to address risky behaviors, information on how to involve peer leaders in message delivery, and a resource guide to obtain other educational materials that could be used to assist girls depending on their specific need. GoGirlGo Playbook : This Playbook serves as the primary guide to deliver educational information to each girl athlete. It contains testimonials from 12 athletes regarding their experiences with risky behaviors (e.g.: smoking drugs, sexual activity), diary space for recording work-outs and goals, basic training and nutrition information, inspirational quotes and training tips, and resource information on internet sites and help lines that address risky behaviors. Captain's Leadership Guide: Brochures directed to team captains including tips on leadership and suggestions on how to positively influence girls. WSF MembershiplSportsTa/k Newsletter: Each girl will receive membership in the WSF along with SportsTalk, the WSF youth,member quarterly newsletter. To ensure editorial coverage on risky behavior, the WSF will include a"Tips from a Champion" testimonial that will feature athletes and how they dealt wl various health risk situations. The WSF will enroll individual teams in the GoGirlGo program through the creation of a program brochure that will be distributed via Community Service Organizations with local girls' sports programs, promotional events, former Grantees, and coaches of middle and jr. high school teams.
