Abstract
Discusses enclosed statements (not included in this document) to be placed in the record of "tar" and nicotine hearings by Senator Marlow Cook, which included material contrary to the Surgeon General's position. Senator Cook's office sent a letter to Dr. Yerushalmy pointing out that his work was criticized by Dr. Horn and invited his comments. Also mentions briefly upcoming Auerbach dog project.

~ .... will recall, Senator Moss invited the inclusion of certain
• ' literature contrary to the Surgeon General'sposition and we
~- " anticipate that a considerable amount of material will be
furnished in response to this request. I am also advised
that a letter to Dr. Yerushalmy was sent by Senator Cook's
office pointing out that Dr. Yerushalmy's work was criticized
by Dr. Horn and inviting comment.
Horace sent you, on February 14, a copy of the re-
port "Environmental Pollution Effects on Health," which was
transmitted by.a Presidental message on January 31. I have
had a copy of this delivered to Dr. Theodor Sterling for his
comments. Horace and I have discussed the report in some
detail.
Dave Hardy hopes that you are considering the im-
plications of NCI approval of the second Auerbach dog project.
