Dr. Art Ulene Dear Friend: If you care about your own personal smoke-free space as much as I do, please read on. I don't smoke myself and it concerns me when other people smoke around me, because of the hazards from "second-hand" smoke. This is the principal reason why I joined with Tony Randall in -supporting what I hope will become the most powerful grass roots effort against smoking this country has ever seen. This new organization is called Americans United for a# Smoke Free Society and, as a member of its Medical Advisory Board, I invite you to help make our goal a reality. And now as a medical doctor, I want you to consider these additional reasons why our society should be smoke-free. Think what that would mean to your health, your family's health and well- being. It will change the environment where you work, where you shop, and when you travel. There are many efforts to curb smoking going on right now but they just don't have the clout, an allegiance of supporters needed.to accomplish the only goal that I feel is acceptable, a smoke-free society. I urge you to do what you can to support Americans United for a Smoke Free Society. Please read Tony Randall's letter carefully and give us the benefit of your comments, opinions and your contributions. Your help is needed. Sincerely, 31-7'/q a Arthur Ulene, M.D. q TIMN 297944 Dr. Art Ulene is an associate clinical professor at the USC School of Medicine and serves as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Council, Americans United for a Smotce Free Society.
