Crawford' SUBJECT: Issues Planning Organizational Structure & Chart The purpose of this memorandum is to inform you about our structure and who to contact regarding specific issues or public programs. The issues planning team consist of two complementary units (issues management and programs management). A brief description of the units is below: Issues Management Issues management is charged with, providing leadership and expertise in the areas of strategy, planning and analysis for assigned issues. A listing of the issues managers and their assigned issues is as follows: Josh S1'avitt: Advertising, Sports(Tobacco Sponsorship, Youth, Firesafe, Tax Stamping Cappie Alverson: Smoking restrictions (i.e. workplace & public bans), Discriminatory Activities (i.e. hiring/firing practices, child custody, etc.), Environmental (i.e. solid waste, IAQ, etc.)~ Patrick Pisciteili: State & Local Excise and Sa1cs Taxes on Cigarettes, Minimum Pricing, Customer Relations (i.e. wholesaler/retailer contacts) Each issues manager is responsible for maintaining a working relationship with the appropriate WRO and industry counterparts who cover similar issues. Routine research activities are carried out by the issues assistants (John Ostronic and an intern soon to be hired). The issues of social cost, divestment, and initiative reform will be handled by me. Programs Management The programs management group is charged with providing knowledge and leadership in the areas of public concept marketing and issues events management. The group is responsible for enhancing the implementation (execution) of pre-approved ideas and/or events associated with specific action plans developed by the Corporate Affairs department. The group is headed by Barbara Trach. Karen Chaikin and Ketrina Knuff are also group members. Below is Iist of a few programs currently under their guidance or management: . . The Accommodation Program (restaurants, bowling alleys & malls); Suppliers Meetings (Richmond/NYC); State Excise Tax Information brochures; and Issues Education Through Fulfilltnent/POS. The program management group is also responsible for cataloging issue event materials. Review and coordination of all issues-related video production will fall: under the group's duties.
