Oiver the past few years, the Committee of, Counsel h~asrequested'the State Activities Division to
monitor, screen and report on
product liability legislation at the state level.
In compliance.withi this request, we contract.with the Martin
Haley Companies' State Services Group to monitor this issue and
the related "'right to know" issue. We receive bill,cop.ies and
six cumulative status reports during the year (see attached) and
forward copies of product liability bills and reports to Steve
Parrish at Shook,-Hardp and Bacon., John Rupp, Covington &
Burling, receives reports on "right, toknow", legislatio~n.,
Recently, Alex Holtaman, Philip Morris, was added to the
distribut.ion-list for these reports.
The f'inaltwo:l statusreportwfor this year willbeavailab]leinmid-August and'mid-December.
Our understanding is that Shook, Hardy will,contact us if'they
think our state legislative counsel shouldilobby for or against a
particular bill., Ourfield staff may alsorequest,that Shook,.
