( B.A.T [U.K. and Export) Limited vB/~ 20~h March 18~2 Fax To: Mr Joe Imperial Tobacco, ..Montreal F~x No: 0101 514 932 9~86 From: Vivien Becher Export House Woking SurreyGU21 lYE Enid Telephone 0483 757555 Telex 859101 8ATUKE G Fax 0483 756100 Telegraphic Address EXPORT WOKING rf Further to our discussions a couple of weeks ago, I would be grateful for some further advice. We were hoping to use a design for the shelf strip and price arrow containing an element which would, in the e~_nt that sometime in the futur~ branded items were no longer able to be used, continue to ser%~ as a brand identifier. Howe~n~r, for .~ n~nber of reasons, this is proving difficult to resolve in the shor~ term. During our conversation you mentioned that any design, once used, could not be subsr.~nti~llT altered, and therefore we are anxious zo get this 'right' from the ou%set. What I would like further clarification on is:- [. W~at in detail are the re~%tlations with regard to P08 designs/changes? 2. If we produced separate designs for the ~˘o items of PJ~, ~uld ~ at later d~te be able to change the d~sign of one of the items to reflect the design of the other? I would be interested in Imperiai's views on the probability of only non- brunded POS being used in the future. [ did try. to c~l! you yesterday, I will he back in the office on Tuesday if you wish to discuss this further, ~iany thanks for your help. Regards A Member of the B.A.T. Industr~˘-~ (~rouo Regd. {V.K.and Exp.) Lhnit~ Woking v~/~h 12th March t992 To : Wa~i~ A.I.~=. IBM BAT Co From: Vivien Becher B~F: SEFK FOR CANADA (PROJECT DANIELS) Due to legal constraints, we are very limited in the R3S items ava/lable for use on the Domestic market. On Imperial Tobacco's advice, we will he utilising d/splay units (unbranded), shelf strips and shelf arro~. The l~st two items can currently be branded, however we are anxious to incorporate within the branded design an element which could still he used if these items had to Be non-branded but would continue as a brand identifie~. Although in some Middle East markets the "sunburst" has been used for a number of years on non-brmnded material (see atrmched), we feel that the Branded version of the design laclts strength. A copy of our preferred d~sign - in both branded and non-brmnded versions - is attached and we would he grateful for your approval of this as soon ~s possible. @ Woki~ Rs / Jvc 11 Harch 1992 Note to: Susan Osborne Canadian Border Trade Thank you for your fax dated lOth March regarding above. The situation is as follows:- BIT havebeen in distrTbution to all major local distributors who supply the Indian reservations for a number of years. - Attea Brothers - Buffalo. NY supply to St. Regis - the ~ain reservation with a border of 300 miles to Canada - Capitol Condy - ~ermont - Bluewater Tobacco - Detroit/Michigan - Small distribution - gisconsin - Point Marketing Inc - Washington State Historically sales have totalled 2 million of a national total of 18 million monthly. Sales have been made to Vietnamese livin˘ on the border. With the Canadian Government raising duty on Canadian exports on February 12th, the situation has rapidly chan~ed. Through the same distribution network sales are increasing due to Canadians showing interest in our product. Short term estimate are for volume to increase incrementally to 6 to 8 million monthly. We will keep our finger on this opportunity. Regards. pp R. Brentnall cc: L.Previati C.Figueiredo S.E.Facey ~0 O~ r~O ~0 BATCo document for PFSFC 1 March 1999
