The abbreviation for the World Health Organization is WHO. The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems ("ICD") was developed by the WHO (DS-IV 1994). ICD 10th edition (ICD-10) was published in 1992 (DSM-IV 1994). ICD-9 lists "tobacco dependence." The WHO has called for a ban on oral tobacco products in countries that have no tradition of their use (1988) (J. Slade/NAP&M 1993).
