Universal Leaf Tobacco Company is a United States leaf tobacco merchant (E. Whelan 1984). Universal Leaf Tobacco Company is a unit of Universal Corp. (1994) (DJ 7/21/94). Universal Leaf is the company that buys tobacco for Philip Morris (1985-1988) (L. White, Merchants 1988). Universal Leaf owned tobacco leaf-processing plants in Brazil (1985) (L. White, Merchants 1988). Universal Leaf Tobacco Company is plaintiff, with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and four other plaintiffs, in suit against EPA find on June 22, 1993 in U.S. District Court the Middle District of North Carolina, asking the court to declare EPA's Risk Assessment on Environmental Tobacco Smoke null and void (DJ 7/21/94).
