Provost, Daniel E., III

(LM Public Relations VP 1961-84) Daniel E. Provost, III was Vice President of Public Relations of Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co. and Liggett Group, Inc. from 1961 to 1984.

He retired in 1984. (N.M., L & M Liability Notebook, Section 3, Personnel List) He has testified there was always a concerted effort on behalf of the tobacco industry to maintain a united front on cigarette smoking and health issues. He also testified the tobacco industry had a practice of attacking medical researchers and scientific articles unfavorable to the industry. He attended Tobacco Institute meetings in mid �50's representing Liggett. He worked with Lark Cigarette and asserted it was safer to smoke.
