Ellen R. Gritz Ph.D. was the Professor and Chair for the Department of Behavioral Science at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. Gritz was a contributor to Orleans & Slade Nicotine Addiction in 1993. Dr. Gritz has a broad range of knowledge on tobacco but her field is smoking cessation. She has written for the Surgeon General's reports on smoking. (Williams & Bailey Possible Witnesses and Consultants list) She is listed as a possible expert on the benefits of cessation. Dr. Gritz is also an Annie Laurie Howard Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor of Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas School of Public Health. She is an invited member on several committees of the National Cancer Institute. She has knowledge about nicotine and its physiological effects.
