Cullman, Howard S. "Hugh"
(PM Inc., President 1957-67, CEO '67-78) Howard "Hugh" Cullman was the brother of Joseph Cullman Jr. He was president of Philip Morris, Inc. from 1957-67, Chairman of Board and CEO of PM 1967-78, Chairman of Executive Committee of the Board 1978.Assistant Treasurer for Philip Morris, Inc. in 1959. He became Treasurer in 1960. In 1961 to 1964 he was Vice President and Assistant Chief Operator and in 1965 he became the Vice President International. He became Executive Vice President of Operations from 1966 to 1978 and Group Executive Vice President from 1979 to 1983. He was Vice Chairman of the Board from 1984 to 1985 and on the Board of Directors in 1962 and then again from 1965 to 1985.
Would do anything to thwart the government from involvement in cigarette business. Advocated extreme measures to avoid government interference.
