No-Nicotine Product Development Plan
Abstract
Outlines product development plans for 1989, including developing "blends for NOW and VANTAGE LN products" and developing a "'no-nicotine' product with acceptable smoking characteristics for consumer testing of the 'no-nicotine' concept." Discusses plans for evaluating low/no nicotine leaf and processed tobaccos, using other ingredients to achieve low nicotine yields, and developing testing methods for the resulting low/no nicotine products. Attaches a list of ingredients and an outline for cigarette design, including silica gel, active carbons, and nicotine dilution using glycerin and other aerosol former. Includes an outline of things which will require chemistry/biochemistry support, such as nicotine removal from the leaves, nicotine removal from extracts, burn rate control, and materials approval.
