LIST OF SUBSTANCES AND PREPARATIONS WHICH CAN BE USED AS BACTERICIDES AND FUNGICIDES FOR RECONSTITUTED TOBACCO, CIGARETTE OR CIGAR WRAPPERS, AND ADHESIVES FOR THESE WRAPPERS, IN THE COURSE OF THE MANUFACTURING OF THESE PRODUCTS 1. Preparations of: - 22.5% sodium dimethyl dithiocarbamate, 7.5% sodium ethylenebisdithioc- arbamate, 10% 1,8,6,3-diendomethylene-1,3,6,8-tetrazacyclodecane, and 60% water; - 18% 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-l,3-diol, 12% sodium bromide, 25% propylene glycol, and 45% water; - 15% parahydroxy-2-oxophenylacetydroxinic acid chloride, 85% polyethy- lene glycol, with less than 0.5% HC1 (impurity). The maximum dose of these three preparations used is 2 mg/L of water used for production of the paper. The traces of treatment with these preparations should not exceed 0.005 mg/dm2 of ready-to-use paper. 2. Preparations of 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, chlorobenzisothiazolone 2,2'-dithiobisbenzamide 9.5%, propylene glycol 45% (which may be replaced by dipropylene glycol, 99% purity), caustic soda 2.6%, and enough water to make 11 F RANK C. These preparations are approved as bactericidal-agents in: the course of working with the pulp which will give rise to the paper sheet, at a maximum dose of 56 g of 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one per ton of dry paper. They are also approved as preservatives in adhesives and other aqueous compositions for coating paper, in a dose of 0.03 g of 1,2-benzisothiazolin- -3-one per 100 g of aqueous composition. The 2,2'-dithiobisbenzamide is present in the 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one in a dose of 6% maximum. The chlorobenzisothiazolone is present in the 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one in a dose of 1% maximum. 3. Potassium dimethyldithiocarbamate. This substance (CAS No. 128-03-0) is approved in the same capacity as sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate as bacteri- cidal agent during manufacturing of the paper. 4: Mixtures ofalkyl ketene dimer and polyethyleneimine stabilized-at the time of storage by a fungicide, tetrahydro-3,5-dimethyl-2H-1,3,5-thia- diazine-2-thione. The quantity of this fungicide should not exceed 0.06 mg/dm2 of material, with reference to the provision applicable for the regen- erated cellulose film which can be used in contact with food. 5. Glutaraldehyde. This substance (CAS No. 111-30-8) is approved provi- sionally as a bactericide for the treatment of paper pulps, in a maximum dose of 250 mg/L of water. 12 FRANK C.
