Abstract

This brief Philip Morris memo mentions studies done on puffing behavior regarding sequential puffs (e.g., a study on Puff Three, Puff Four, Puff Six.). The memo notes that Puff Five did not have an individual study referencing it, thus information on it will be included in the annual report instead.

PHILIP MORRIiS U1.S.A. IN'TER-OFFICE CORRESPONDENCE RICHNOND,. V1RuIN'IA To: F rom: Subject: • W. L. Dunn Date: August 27, 1'',974 • F. J. Ryan • Puff Five: Puffing Behavior Changes on Cigarettes Cut to Different Lengths I have been sending you a series of inemos describing our lab"s progress in stud ing puffing behavior. "Progress in Puffing Studies" (8/2/73~ covered the study we call Puff Three; note also "Puff Four: Puffing Behavior at 30- and 60-second Inter- puff Intervals" (11/6/73) and "Puffing Behavior Following Long and Short Intercigarette Intervals--Puff Six" (8/16/74). Puff Five is not covered by a memo, and it seems redundant to write one inasmuch as it is covered adequately in the recent annual report "Behavioral Research I, Accession No. 74-065, pp 2-6 andifigs. 3, 4 and' 5." So let me note here, just for the records, that unless you have any objection Puff Five will be referenced only as part of the annual report. jh cc: H. Wa1eham F. Resnik T. 0sdene~ R. Fagan D.
