JiL 17 '95 15:44 M E T A 582 P02i@S Subject . 1995 DR,AFI GULF STANDARDS Please find attached what appear to be the changes between the Draft 1992 Gulf Standard and the 1995 Draft Gulf Standard document that you will have received (ref: KWG\027\95). Apart from the reduction in tar and nicotine levels (there is an obvious misprint 1.0 mg; this should read 10.0 mg). The other major concern is the reduction of the carbon monoxide level from 15 mg to 12 mg and the fact that this CO level will have to be printed on the pack as part of the labelling requirement. MBTA is requesting full scientific argumentation on these three ma.jor changes and, of course, in relation to the feasibility of the industry meeting these proposed standards. It will be appreciated if those scientists who are involved with ME'fA could confer on this issue as appropriate as it is critical to have initial argumentation at hand by Saturday 29th July. If there is any further information requirement, please contact META Dubai. CNKHay
