As you may be aware, our retail associations oppose Assembly Bi115I6. The attached editorial
clearly points out one of the reasons our members oppose this regulatory bill. We believe
Assembly Bill 516 would create a patchwork of regulations that could create additional
economic burdens on small business.
Selling cigarettes to minors is illegal. We oppose any sales to underage purchasers. However,
we don't believe this bill will curb underage smoking. It -%ill create ffinaacial hardshi,ps for
independent retailers.
