You will recall, and Barbara Allen mentions in her letter, informal discussions with SIPI President Alan McGowan their desire for support for a San Francisco Bay area conference on environmental issues. According to Barbara, however, the MRS is a more pressing need. I do not have the resources in my budget to provide support at this time. However, I think you should consider finding the dollars somewhere in order to respond to this request. SIPI has proven to be responsive to our interests and the negotiation for a grant of this size would yield an understanding of other desirable actions to be taken. For example, I can see SIPI undertaking several actions in the area of EPAIETS. Basically, it is a matter of sitting down with them and working out details. A grant gets us to the table.
