ACCOMMODATION
European examples of self-regulation accommodating smokers
and non-smokers at the workplace and in public places (HoReCa)
An approach to smoking at the workplace and in public places that recognises
the preferences of both smokers and non-smokers makes good management and
business sense.
Numerous examples show that self-regulation, rather than restrictive, inflexible
government regulations is the best approach to the smoking issue.
This sections provides evidence that the HORECA sector, and workplace
interests (employers and unions) in Europe are capable of accommodating both
smokers and non-smokers through self-regulation. The materials can be used
with HoReCa representatives, Unions, Employer's associations, regulatory
bodies, Government representatives and the media.
