Attached is a recommendation for a trial use of a custom design magazine program with
Time Inc. The concept is that we'll only put ads in the magazines that go to smokers'
homes. This has great potential for cost efficiencies and well as for the development of
media alternatives in the face of potential future restrictions.
Management is asking both Virginia Slims and Merit to participate in the test this Fall. By
copy of this note, I'm asking Diane Cimine to set up a meeting with the three of us to
discuss the merits of the initiative as well as the executional needs.
I'll make sure Denise follows up to get the meeting scheduled in the next two weeks.
