As agreed at the last meeting of TC126/,WG6' in Cascai s, I am sending a
set of papers (N4D-N78) to all experts registered with TC126.
For ease of reading I have arranged the papers ini sections. Each
section begins with & simple digest of the contents. The sections are

You wi11 note that the last sectioni is entitled "Litigation". I must
say ini our view the WorkingiGroup should not be influenced by what the
Courts have said., Indeed I beliieve the Courts should listen to the
views of the scientists. However, since one Company has seen fit to
include the judgement of just one Court it is necessary for me to
submit others in order to restore the ballance. -

Various experts,, employed by BAT, will present the evidence to the
meeting. We will show that the ACTRON filter and other channel
ventilated cigarettes can be tested by the methods giveni in ISO DIS
4387'and 8453 together with all other cigarettes on the market today..
There is no evidence to suggest that this type of filter produces
results which distort the ranking when compared to other, ecigarettes,
based on straight machine values or values derivedi from experiments tol
s.how human uptake.
A't the concliusion of'our presentation we will give the other experts a
summary document (TC126/WG6 N8D).
I ami looking forward to a very productive meeti% in Zurich and I am
sure that if Scientific evidence is allowed to prevail over commercial
considerations, WG6 could resolve the issues before it to the complete
satisfaction of all concerned. That resolution couldlhappen in
Zurich. Regirettablly,,I am forced to conclude that certain members are
unwilling to allow true science to prevail.
