As an aside, I might say the greatest amount of time has been spent with the media;
papers, T.V. and radio. Our odrinance received a great deal of media coverage,
local and national.
Along with the previously mentioned enclosures, I am sending you a copy of a
form letter we send to restaurants who are the subject of a cor.:plaint.
All in all, the ordinance has been effective and easily enforced. If I can help

Thar.k yuu for your letter of i'n~terest in Pasadena Ordinance number 6065, regLlating
smoking in public areas andiwork places. This ordinance was added tol the Pasadena
Municipali Code as Chapter 8'.78 and is titled "StpokinR, Regulated or Prohibited". A
copy of the ordinance is enclosed. The ordinance was adhpted on April 24, 1984 and!
went into effect ninety (90) days later, August 28, 1984.
Since no monies or personneL were added to my Environmental staff for the enforce-
ment of this ordinance, it was decided to, handle enforcement on a complaint basis
only. A copy of our Pnl~icy, & Procedures II'I-101 is: enclosed.
I'have no figures on enforcement costs since no account was set up to handle ther...
