APPENDIX I
This is based on an estimate of a retaining fee of
$ 10,000 p.a. plus per diem rate of $ 400 at 4 days a
month for 10 nbnths and estimated travelling expenses over
this -reriod. It assumes that DCG and not the Secretariat
will take this item on its Budget.
This covers Hill and Knowlton charges for the production of the
text of the abbreviated version of the EIU Study, press
abstracts, speakers notes and questions and answers. It also
covers financial arrangements with the Economist Intelligence
Unit for the design, printing and sales despatch of the Study.
Mr. George Berman ( Devon Management Resources Inc.) has
started work on this. The figure covers charges that will be
incurred up to the completion of the model.
This is a contingency figure. It is planned to monitor the
UICC Workshop to be held in Africa in 1981 and probably also
the IOCU 10th World Congress in The Hague in June 1981.
This again is a contingency figure. To date DCG's only
Commitment under this item is $ 5,750- ie half the cost of a
pilot study in Malaysia designed to produce a model for
qualitative research on the unwritten rules of social behaviour
related to snaking in developing countries. If considered
satisfactory, this nmodel will be offered to the industry in
all develoning countries. The other half of the cost is
being borne by the Council of Malaysian Tobacco Manufacturers,
This is a figure based on an estimate of the amount of work
and e.xpenses involved in running the DCG as its Chairman during
1981.
