E. Narron). We have had individual discussions and a group discussion involving these assignments. My intent is to communicate the information to date on the assignments and schedule some time together to review your progress prior to the quarterly review meeting. The first assignment deals with the control moves problem. This assignment supports Function II specified in the Production Management Mission as "Ensure that on-line controllable parameter control move problems are prioritized and addressed". The specific Area SPC Specialist activity is to identify and summarize area control move problems. We met on June 19 to address the best method for completing this activity. There was no consensus made at that meeting, although the following items surfaced: 1. A survey of operating personnel might identify the major control move problems. 2. There is a need to prioritize control move problems that should be addressed first. 3. Control move problems would surface if personnel worked the SPC System as intended. After that meeting, K. E. Hayes submitted a preliminary proposal on a method to complete this assignment (see attached write-up dated July 1). This write-up includes items from a brainstorming session by the SPC Specialists. I have since received partial reports of progress on this effort. The second assignment was initially made in the July 29 memo by N J. E. Narron. It deals with providing a quarterly performance C summary comparing past to present. Yesterday I received N clarification on the specifics of this assignment. Each SPCja Specialist is to provide a summary highlighting standards and *,.) parameters performance based on the quarterly paretos. This ~O summary should pinpoint persisting priority problems. TherA summary should also pinpoint successes. The SPC Specialist will CA be expected to communicate reasons for items remaining in the vital few.
