MEMORANDUMi TO THE COMMITTEE OF COUNSEL
- Re:: California Proposition 65
At its meeting on May 5, 1994, the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant
(DART) Identiification~ Committee of the Proposition 65--Sdence Advisory Board
directed the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA)
to prepare an evaluation of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) as a possible
reproductive toxicant for consideration at the next DART Committee. meeting.
The DART Cbtnmittee also directed OEHHA, in consultation with the California
Attorney General, to provide advice to the Committee at its next meeting with respect
to whether the Committee is authorized to consider effects from post-natal exposure in
deciding whether to list a substance as a reproductive toxicant.
Enclosed are copies of the agenda for the May 5 meeting and the materials
distributed in connectibn with ETS.. Dates have not been set for completion of the
OEHHA evaluation of ETS and subsequent DART Committee meeting. DART Com-
mittee meetings are ordinarily held twice a year.
