Miller SUBJDC,T: Ted Turner 9noking Ban As you know, we recently launched an action request to a cross-section of consLanexs relating to Ted Turner's t that smokers will no longer be hired at the Turner Broadcasting System. I just received a call this afternoon fran a former CNN anchorperson, Gwenn Scott, who received my mailgram. Ms. Scott began the conversation by saying, "You made my day!" She went on to relate that the reason she is no lonc7er with TBS is largely due to Turner's s:roking ban. During discussions to renew her contract, Turner demanded that she either give up smoking or leave the network. Since she was unwilling to ccaply with the smoking directive, she is now seeking other employment. According to Ms. Scott, T.irryer's anti-smoking policy is used to discriminate against certain employees whble others are allowed to smoke freely. She claims it is a pretext to "get rid of undesirables". She went on to mention~that it is ccamman knowledge that Turner sits in his office and smokes marijuana and that the reason he decided to "crackdown" on smoking is due to the denands of his current girlfriend. In her view, Turner Broadcasting System is a racist campany. I thanked Ms. Scott and prcanised to send her scane Merit cigarettes.
