Philip Morris Management Corp.

New York, NY 10017
Dear Roy:
Enclosed is a copy of an op ed Joseph Bast just completed. The piece is
now being circulated to the media and other interested parties. As a
supporter of The Heartland Institute's new book, Honest Environmentalism, I
thought you would be interested in this piece.
In the last week Heartland has distributed almost 9,000 copies of the
Chemical Manufacturers Association's special edition of their publication,
ChemecoZogy. The issue reprints the five article series from The New York
Times, "What Price Cleanup?" These copies were mailed to over 8,000 state
legislators and constitutional officers and other public opinion;leaders with
a cover memo from Professor P. J. Hill (enclosed).
One last note for your rolodex. The Heartland Institute is moving to a
new location. The enclosed card details the move to Palatine, a suburb near
O'Hare International Airport. Please note our new address becomes effective
on Monday, August 23. We-wi11 get you our new telephone and fax numbers as
soon as the telephone company is kind enough to provide them to us!
I am also happy to report that progress is being made on the first draft
of Honest Environmentalism. The longer-than-expected period of fundraising,
and Heartland's move to new offices have bumped us a couple of weeks off
schedule. However, we still expect to share a manuscript with you in August.
