Parkin's letter to Mr. T. Joseph Semrod concerning smoking in the workplace. Although it is difficult to respond to several of the suggested topics, we as an organization are concerned with the health related costs of smoking incurred by our staff and~ subsequently passed on to the company as medical claims expense. We have taken action to reduce smoking in-the workplace by restricting smoking to limited areas in most of our facilities. We have also provided in-house programs to aid smokers in breaking the habit. Without specific requests from you, I am at a loss to say what we as an organization might do to assist in this project. Sincerely, ames N. Ferrier Vice President Human Resources
