Stop Smoking Intervention Study (ASSIST). Being in the health care business, we are acutely aware of the damaging-effects of cigarettes, both to smokers and those exposed to secondhand smoke. As such, we are making our own plans to reduce smoking at all of our Pharmaceuticals Division locations, and have organizedta task force internally to address this issue. We agree wholeheartedly that there is a vital need for the ASSIST Project, not only because of the morbidity and mortality caused by smoking, but a1.so because of the high costs that smoking,places on the health care system.
