Mark Pertschuk, JD Mr. Pertsdudc is Co-Director of Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights (ANR) and 1he American Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation (ANRF). He began serving as Executive Director and : ... Legislative Director of ANR and ANRF in September 1985. As Legislative Director, Mr. Pertschuk developed and implemented a successful national campaign to eliminate smoking on domestic commercial airline flights in the United States. He has oiganized national conferences, conducted trainings, and developed a computer-based, interactive, mut6-rnedia tobacco education program. Mr. Pertschuk is the editor of the National Cancer Institute's Smotdng and Tobacco Control Monograph Num6ei3: Major cocat Tobacco contd Ordmanaes in the United States. He has presented at numerous conferences and in other forums, and has conducted hundreds of interviews with radio, television and print media. WalWiW I.JC&it35 Regtna Cmison has over 20 years experience wodang witlh citizens, fegislators, the business conumxrty and the media to confmnt tobacco industry tactics. She has campaigned for smoke free air (especially in the work place) and works to ensure tobacco-free Wes for chiklnen. Jim Bergman directs the nation's only advocacy organization dedicated to reducing youth addiction to fobacco. He has also led efforts to ban cigarette vending machines and strengihen enforcement of laws prohbiting sales of tobacco to youth. Jann Burks Hinkle successfully developed and implemented Michigan's Tobacco-Free Pharmacy Campaign. Mark Pertschuk (see information on keynote speaker). Albertannsley-Winiams founded an orgardzatlon that combats media adverbsing of alcohol and tobacco products aimed at minorities. She has implemented prevention strategies to limit this advertising.

Jose Gonza`lez is a long-time advocate for the needs of Hispanics and believes that quality of life is improved through education. As the VP of the Hispanic. Center for Policy and Advocacy, he is dedicated to infomring 1he . Hispanic community about the effects of tobacco and the tobacco industrys strategy of targeting minorities in advertising and'funding activities. Officer Chris Gilfillan conducted two sting operations to reduce illegal sales of tobacco products to underage youth in East Providence. Recently, he submitted a proposal to prohibit the sale of cigarettes by vending machines. Mr. Gilfiuan is also an instructor for the Tobacco-Free Teens Program. Tim Baker owns one of the few pharmacies in RI that is tobacco-free. He serves on the Council of Admimstration for the RI Pharmaceutical Association, is President of the Jamestown Village Association, and Preceptor for the URI College of Pharmacy Extemship Program. Joshua N. Fenton, of the Providence City Council, has been a strong advocate of promoting public health by controlling work place smolting. He sponsored a 1991 City Council Resolution which limited snwldng in public buildings to designated areas. As a member of the Civic Center Autfwrity,. Fenton promoted the policy to ban smoldng in the Providence Civic Center.
