Dear Bill:
Thank you again for spending the morning with us here at
Duke today. It was a pleasure to get to talk with you. I
repeat that you all have done a very good thing with your sup-
port of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center, and I think
your thoughts about a next stage of funding for biomedical
research are right on target.
We would be happy to spend some more time with you when
you feel ready, after looking at the various models already out
there. The "'Health and Behavior''' theme could be very appro-
priate for Philip Morris. It would signify your concern for the
social costs and prevention of illness in tandem with
addressing the basic disease mechanisms across a very wide
spectrum of problems.
With best regards,
BJC/tsg
