Stewart) Cigarettes for a POL test of a 14 mg FTC tar Marlboro KS model against the 16 mg production control met analytical specifications and were released for shipment. Cigarettes were made for an HTI test of a 16 mg tar/14 mg -C0 Marlboro KS model against the 16 mg tar/16 mg CO production control and are under- going smoking analysis. B. B&H 100's (L. Stewart) Models have been made and are being tested to develop a 16 mg tar/14 mg CO B&H 100 mm regu:lar model for consumer panel testing against the 16 mg tar/ 17 mg CO production control. C. Marlboro Lights (B. Mait, J. Nepomuceno) Cigarettes have been made and are being analyzed for an HTI test of a 9 mg FTC tar Marlboro Lights 100 mm model against the 11 mg production control. D. B&H Lights (B. Mait)~ Cigarettes have been made and are being analyzed for a POL test of a 9 mg FTC tar B&H Lights regular model against the 10.5 mg production control. E. Merit (B. Mait) Cigarettes have been made for POL and HTI tests of two Merit KS models delivering 8 mg tar/8 mg CO against the 8 mg tar/10 mg CO production control. The cigarettes are undergoing smoking analysis. F. Virginia Slims Lights (L. Stewart) Models are being tested to reduce the CO delivery of Virginia Slims 0 Lights by I- 2 mg without reducing FTC tar delivery. ~ ~ G. Cambridge (S. Stone) Ir CJ1 Models designed to increase the tar delivery of Cambridge KS from 1 mg Mr to 3 mg, and Cambridge 100's from 4 mg to 5 mg, have been made and are under- Cr~ going smoking analysis. ~

-2- [. I II. CIGARETTE TECHNOLOGY A. Hot Melt Tipping Adhesive (J. Nepomuceno) Cigarettes made with an Ecusta tipping paper precoated with a hot melt adhesive have given mixed results in subjecti~ve evaluations by the Manufacturing Center and Flavor Panels. A POL test has been initiated to see if consumers can detect differences between the experimental hot melt adhesive and the conventional PVA tipping adhesive. B. Porous Plugwrap (B. Mait) Highly porous plugwraps with CORESTA values of 15,000 and 19,000 have been received from Schweitzer for evaluation.
