MUL 100 Both regular and menthol versions of MERIT ULTRA LIGHTS 100'S have been readied for National Market.' Trial production runs were conducted August 8, 1981, with actual production start-up to begin on August 17, 1981. B. Project CAM II Satisfactory distinctive flavor transfer has been demonstrated using impregnated Mg(OH)z in a cavity configuration. Additional concepts and con- figurations continue to be evaluated. C. Project GROW VP Testing2 of a 0.5 mg Project GROW (Barclay-type) is currently in progress vs. Barclay and the 5 mg MF-5 85 mm candidate. 100 mm testing at 1.0 mg tar is scheduled. D. Marlboro Ul~tra Lights Preliminary data3 from the POL testing of the top Marlboro Ultra Lights candidate vs. Merit and Marlboro Lights indicate, as expected, greater appeal to Marlboro Lights smokers than to Merit smokers. This product candidate will be placed on shelf item status until test marketing is desired. II. INSTRUMENTATION A. Rapid PZ Analyzer The Rapid PZ Analyzer is now in final stages of debugging with routine test runs in progress. Hopefully, this instrument can be turned over to Manufacturing by the end of August, 1981. B. PHILCOR We are currently awaiting final quotes for the construction of the PHILCOR Porosity Tester. Initially ten instruments will be purchased'for International use.
