Mr. Ervin cited testimrnny be-
fore the Senate Commerce
Committee and estensiive doau-
mentation, prepared for Tihe
Congressional Record as proof
that no one now knew the
cause of Iunb cancer or other
malibnancy.
~ In a news conference, Mr.,
Ervin outlined a, rebuttal to
Senator. Robcrt F. Kennedy,
Democrat of New York, who
has proposed'strinbent "hoalth"
controls on the tobacco indus-
try.
Mr. Ervin also planned to lgy
his arbumcnt; before the Sen-
ate in an address desiFned to
head off what lie called Mr.
Kennedv's "prohihitionist" aim
of ultimately outlawing, ciga-
rette smokin, entirely.
