Among the factors being studied are the possible interactionn of viruses and tobacco smoke, environmental factors and pulmonary disease, coronary aftery disease, psychological differences between smokers and non-smokers, characteristics of aromatic hydrocarbons, the effect of tobacco derivatives on arterial and mydcardial' tissue cultures, the role ot the nucleolus in normal and malignant cells, and the effect of negatively charged ions on human tracheo-bronchial ciliary action. All grants are made by the Sc;entific Advisory Board, composed of nine doctors, scientists, and educators, who retain their institutional afliliations, under the chair- manship of Dr. K. Meanira.
