LOS ANGELES TIMES. 1qEWSPAPERS 11 Berkson of the Mayo Clinic takes issue with the article on smoking and '~`? lung cancer by Surgeon General Burney that appeared in the November 28, ','Berkson writes in part: "In general, the (Surgeon General's) article . s.:;.. . is characterized by an imprecision of language and thought that renders "can "be properly designated a statement of the Public Health Service." . ,takes up many points in detail and questions whether the Burney article leading with regard to the basic questions at issue." The letter then it contains some frank errors of ommission and commission which are mis- inaccurate almost every important point it deals with.
