"~ Secretary Hodges was formerly governor of NorthiCarolina. Mr. Daniels was ;press secretary to President Frankli'n,D. Roosevelt','served under President Harry S. - Truman, and is the author of nine books. The celebration at Jamestoarn Festival Park will feature a re-enactment Engl_ish, development of'the New World. The crop was the colonists' first marketable May 17 of the planting, harvesting and shipping,of Ro1fe's first crop in 1612, which saved the Jamestown Colony from economic collapse and set the stage for product, enabling Jamestown to become the first successful English colony in the world. Rolfe's venture also marked the beginning of our eountry's fdreiga trade andicoaamerce andithe tobacco industry in the U.S. Today tobacco is grown by some 800,0(D01farm families ini21 states.
