Rosenblatt, associate professor of medicine, New York Medical College. The Mutual Broadcasting System has taped interviews with Senator'Frank`Moss (D,,, Utah), and George V. Allen, on "'1'he Smoking Question." The interview'witJh' Senator Moss, a co-sponsor of the Neuberger Senate Resolution, will be broadcast Sunday,,November lil, 1962. Mr. Allen's interview will be offered'the following Sunday, November 1$'., In Washington, D.C., the programs will be heard from18:05 to 8:30 p•m- over radio station WOL. The Mutual rad3o network has over 500 affiliated stat'ions'and broadcast t'imes vary from city to city. Consult your newspaper radiio listing for,the time of broadcast in your locality. a "'- Senator Moss was interviewed by,IDavid Lewis, of United Press International, and Mr. Allen by Joha Troan, Scripp,s~Howard science writer. Charles Warreny,Mutual news director, moderated,both programs. In his interviex, Senator Moss states that 90 percent to 95 percent of lung cancerr deaths can be linked to smoking. He favors limitations'on cigarette advertising, and says that appeals are being made to the very young. He is critical of the Public Health Service for not having "acted sooner."' Answering,a related question, Moss states that he belileves Congress may hold hearings after the Surgeon (}Eneral''ss report. Among the topics covered during Mr. Allen's interview are: Statistical studies, Auerbach's work, the Surgeon General''n study, the Air Force ban on gift cigarettes, -t'he economics of the tobacco industry, cigarette advertising andi teen-age smoking. Here are a few excerpts: On statistics: "There have also been a great many stati'stical' studies which, have pointed the finger toxards'a lotof different possible eauses...(they) add up to the needifor further intensive scientific work on the subject."
