This action was taken on recommendation of a reference committee which pointed' three to five man committee of completely impartial doctors to prepare the Council's report and that the Board of Trustees is to approve the members of yet been generally issued to the press. Senator Maurine Neuberger initiated the re-examination by the AMA Board ofTrustees in April with publicity and a letter to the AMA (see TR5'No. 28). The general interest and actions taken are known to be the,result of efforts by the AMA' House of Delegates on the report of itc Reference Committee on Public ~Oaithe AMAresolution disposed of Wednesday, the following action was recorded! The Board ofTrustees' action referred to was taken at its May 26-27 meeting when the Board took the following action: Ci aret Smokiing and Health: The Cammittee considered correspondence enaZor eu erger re. tive to the AMA position on the relationship between ciigaret smoking,and healthy and voted to recommend that the question of the relationship of tobacco and disease be referred to the Council on Drugs for reconsideration.
