Among major items of interest since the last report (PR No. 12-62, March 28, 1962): 1. Various reports on U.S. government activities. 2. Some developments abroad. 3. The Reader"s Digest article and advertising ban received little other press attention (TNS No. 31, May 18, 1962). 4. Editorial reaction to smoking and health developments varied. ~ 5. Two network television shows dealt with smoking and health. Q 6. At the American Associatioafor Cancer Research meeting, scientists ~ ~,reported on the production of lung cancer in animals with~a ~ common human virus; and a T.I.R.C. grantee reported on mouse skin- ~ painting experiments using tobacco condensates.- W A Tobacco News story on tobacco taxes was carried'by both news services and widely published. 8.
