MERIDIAN HOUSE INTERNATIONAL 1630 Crescent Place, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20009 Telephone (202) 667-6800 OtT~ce o~ the President July 23, 1984 Mr. Samuel D. Chilcote, Jr. President The Tobacco Institute 1875 I Street, N. W. Washington, D. C. 20006 Dear Sam: In behalf of our Board of Trustees and your fellow Campaign Committee members, I thank you for The Tobacco Institute's generous contribution of $I,000 to Meridian House International for 1984. This support will be used for our programs of international exchanges of people, ideas, and the arts. Meridian House International serves a wide range of international visitors: assisting diplomats and their families, offering language services to foreign business representatives and the general tourist, and helping the official visitor meet and exchange ideas with his American counterpart. We also have scheduled for the next few months a variety of seminars and cultural events, including a very special exhibition of Cuban-American artists currently on display; enclosed are press reviews of this important show. Upcoming programs include a forum on Monday, July 30, 5:00 pm., with senior members of the United Nations' diplomatic community; lectures by the Ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, Israel, Kenya, Turkey, and Zimbabwe; and a special opportunity to greet the new Secretary General of the Organization of American States. We will send you further details on these programs at a later date. We thank you for your continuing participation in Meridian House International, and I hope to see you here soon. With every good wish, Sincerely, Joseph John Jova President T112750750
