Abstract
On behalf of the directors of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution, I want to thank you and the Tobacco Institute for the generous contribution. This contn'oution will be applied toward a research project on environmental science. This project will examine the Environmental Protection Agency's use of science (or .lack thereof) in determining environmental decisions.

Environmental Protection Agency's use of science (or .lack thereof) in

We believe that providing the public with more information about the
science behind environmental decisions will result in more rational
environmental regulations and policies.
Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the Tobacco
Institute's contribution of $20,000 (cheek no. 013536) is tax deductible.
