Bereano agreed to represent TI in city at no additional cost to TObaCco Znstitute, Spoke with w. Vs. 1obbylsts 8erb and Bill Nottingham twice during week on progress of W. Vs. Special Session. Coordinated with steve Pearson, TI Vs. lobbyist on requested TI poli~lual contrlbu~ions in Atten6ed City Council meeting in Hampton, Vs. at 7~30 Tuesday, 5-12. Met with whole,alert, vendors retailers and company personnel in Hampton area prior to meeting. Spoke with Virginia Delegate Bill Robinson(D-Norfolk City) on Tuesday, 5-12 concerning possible representation of TI in Norfolk local cigarette tax legislation. originally planned to meet with DeZagate Robinson, an attorney on Tuesday night 5-12 in Norfolk after Hampton Council meeting. Due to long length of Hampton meeting, meeting with Robinson rescheduled to 9~00am, 5-13, in Norfolk. ~et with Delegate Robinson on Wednesday morning and briefed him o~ local legislative current ~ituatlon. Furnlshe~ Robinson with statistics arguments and supportive data ~or testi~ny a~ NOrfolk Bud.ge~ Hearing at 5:00pm, Wednesday 5-13. Met Robinson p~ior to public hearing and exchanged information. Public hearing held at forme~ Civic arena and was attended by approximately 1500 citizens city employees and school personnel. Hearing lasted from 5~00pm untll 10~15pm. Approxlmately 65 individuals spoke before Norfolk city Council on various aspects of proposed Fiscal 1988 City Budget. Returned call end brought him up to date on Hampton Roads, Virginia and West Virgini, legislative happenings. Celled ~y Hurxt Marshall on 5-14, returned call and gave him up to the minute report on Hampton Roads, Virginia local leglsla~ion. Talked with RVP Dick Morgan several times during week on current legislation. Called by Virginia Governor'a of£Lce for information. ~urnished Talked to Commissioner of Department of Labor, Commonwealth of Virginia, off ways to handle employee smoklng/no smoking controversy. spoke with Philip Morris ssveral times during week on Hampton Roads local leglslatlon and current campaigns. Completed campaign and non-campaign contribution report and sent to RVP Dick Morgan. LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT ACTIVITY Spoke during week with campaign stales of several Virginia legislators seeking reelection. Kept Garry DeBruhl (Va. Wholesalers Association) and Luke Wi%t (It~R Va. Lobbyls~) informed of local leglsla~ive activity and ~oordlnated activity with them. ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITY Read pre~ cllppln~s from ~aryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
