Enclosed for your review is a copy of a very broad smoking
restriction ordinance proposed by Councilwoman Hilda Mason and a
copy of a newspaper'article from the Washington Post.
It is anticipated that this legislation will receive tremendous
support from the anti-tobacco forces and every effort will be
made to defeat this measure. Allies and coalitions are being
contacted for support and a full plan 9f action is being
developed.
D.C. Bill #7-218 has been assigned to the Public Works Committee
but as of this date, a public hearing has not been scheduled.
I will keep you informed as to developments on this matter.
