In this 1959 ediUon of Know Your Board of
Directors, we present the distinguished men and
women who direct the national policies of the
American Cancer Society.
The Board of Directors, on which they serve
with unselfish dedication, consists of 68 members,
representing the Society's 60 chartered Divisions
coveHn~r the 49 states and the District of Colum-
bia. Of its members, 32 are Directors-at-Large
and 36 are Regional Directors. Half are leaders
in the fields of mediciue and science, and the other
half are lay persons equally outstanding in various
sphere.~ of business and civic activity.
The Honorary Life Directors have served as
regular board members and continue to give the
Society the benefit of their counsel and experience.
These are the devoted men and women who pro-
vide the over-all dynamic direction to all aspects
of the Society's activities.
