Dear Diok:
In response to your August 27th note, I have written to
Senator Barbara Mikulski regarding the airline smoking matter.
I also have had an opportunity to speak with her on this matter,
but have gotten no commitment from her.
I will keep you posted of any further developments.

Dear Mr. Brevig:
Thank you for your comments about the proposed ban on smoking in
public conveyances. The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science
and Transportation has jurisdiction over this matter. As a
member of this committee, I will carefully follow the progress of
S. 51, The Prohibition of Smoking in Public Conveyances Act of
1987, and I will keep your opposition to this measure in mind
during related deliberations.
Again, I appreciate your taking the time to contact me.
