CHAMPIONSHIP AUTO RACING AUXILARY (CARA) EVENT
RUNWAY MADNESS
DATE: Friday, October 29, 1999
LOCATION: Airplane hangar at Ontario Airport (same as 1998)
RECEIPIENT OF
MONEY RAISED: Championship Auto Racing Auxiliary will designate
the charities to receive funding from the event.
California Speedway has requested that a portion of
the proceeds be donated to The Children's Fund of
San Bernardino.
BACKGROUND: This will be the second year for the event. The overall
theme for the party will be Halloween. Federal
Express has already signed on as title sponsor again
and all other CART sponsors are currently being
soticited to participate.
FORMAT: The event features cocktails/dinner, silent and live
auctions and the evening highlight will be
performances from each of the race teams involved
with CART.

JEFF KROSNOFF MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
DATE: Tuesday, October 26, 1999
LOCATION: Empire Lakes Golf Course in Ontario, California
RECEIPIENT OF
MONEY RAISED: Jeff Krosnoff Memorial Scholarship: Developed to
honor Champ Car driver, Jeff Krosnoff, who was killed
three years ago in Toronto, the Krosnoff Scholarship
is awarded each year to a high school senior from Los
Angeles. The scholarship is awanied based on a
written essay and their performance as an
outstanding citizen in their community. The
scholarship is awarded each year at The Toyota
Grand Prix of Long Beach.
BACKGROUND: This will be the third year for the tournament. The
past two tournaments have been comprised mostly of
those who knew Jeff. With the sponsorship, this year,
by California Speedway and Toyota, it is our intention
to raise the tournament to a higher level making it a
fixture of race week.
FORMAT: ' Thirty-six foursomes will play the course with a
celebrity or CART driver. A cocktail partytauction and
awards will follow the tournament.
Please note: A brochure for the tournament is currently being developed and will
be fonvarded upon its completion. Completion is targeted for July 1.

HISTORIC CHAMP CAR PARADE
DATE: Saturday, October 30
LOCATION: California Speedway
BACKGROUND: This will be the third year that the Historic Champ
Cars are displayed and paraded at California
Speedway. Wally Dallenbach established this feature
of the weekend. Victory Lane Magazine coordinates
the participants for the show. Additionally, Victory
Lane hosts the particpants to a cocktail party and
other amenities throughout the weekend.
FORMAT: Ten to fifteen historic Champ/Indy cars are on display
throughout the weekend. They parade the track on
Saturday so that all of our guests may see them and
learn about their historic pasts. Most of these
vehicles have won significant race events such as the
Indianapolis 500 and are driven in the parade lap by
race winners (i.e. Rick Mears).

AUTUMN FESTIVAL WITH MOTOR RACING OUTREACH

PROMOTION:
This will be the second year that MRO will provide
an Autumn Festival for our infield guests. In 1998, the
festival concluded with a Trick-or-Treat With The
Teams event. This year it would be the sole function
of this type for the evening.
Upon arriving at California Speedway, all infield
guests would be invited to participate in the Autumn
Festival at the MRO compound. The festival would
feature costume contests, booths (i.e. dunking for
apples), entertainment (i.e. face paintersfmagicians) ~
--caad-k.

All guests intending to stay in our infield for the
weekend will receive a copy of our July and October
-newsletters. We would publicize the Autumn ival

MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
DATE: Saturday, October 30, 1999
LOCATION: California Speedway Infield
BACKGROUND: Since our opening, California Speedway has hosted
four musical performances for our guests. Featured
artists have included Mark Chestnutt (twice), Eddie
Money and Chris Isaak. Guests of the speedway
have begun to expect these performances and they
always produce a substantial turnout. For the /
upcoming CART weekend, California Speedway is^'
investigating Hootie and the Blowfish and look to have
a major sponsor for the performance.
FORMAT: The infield will be open to all ticket holders around
3:30 p.m. Concession stands are specially set up to
handle the additional crowd. These stands feature
items from hamburgers to wine and cheese. The
performance will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m.
and run about an hour to an hour and a half.
F-1 PARTY
DATE: Same as above
LOCATION: Same as above
BACKGROUND: The final race of the F-1 season falls on October 30.
In 1998 a number of the teams hosted parties in their
respective hospitality areas to watch the final F-1
race. We determined that it might be of interest for
our guests as well.
FORMAT: The race would be shown on a large screen monitor
in the infield following the musical performance.
Concessions would remain open.

FAN APPRECIATION DAY
LOCAL PROMOTION
DATE: Sunday, October 31, 1999
LOCATION: California Speedway
BACKGROUND: California Speedway Fan Appreciation Day is an
extension of the national promotion currently being
developed by CART. California Speedway staff are
encouraging involvement from all track sponsors.
FORMAT: Periodically throughout the weekend, guests will have
their seat number announced to win prizes supplied
by sponsors. Each participating sponsor will support
the promotion through local advertising and point-of-
sale materials suppiied by CART to maintain
consistency with the national campaign.
