Additive ynrmulstion for Brieht 6tems
Since the last report, several formuletfona, the basic one being 6-615, have
been developed which shaw significant improvement in tomparison vith the 6-276
formulation.
Bright etema treated with this formulation smoka mild and the steomy character
of the mainsteesm taste and the sldestream aroms Ls reduced to a negligible
level. The lmprovement So particularly apparent for the sideatraem aroma, as
it does not impart an objectionable aroma into the room. However, the formula-
tion is still lacking In tobacco character.
It hae been determined that Lt is necessary to age the treated atems for at
least tbree weeks before the various compounds, mainly the velerstee, will
blend together to give a smoke that isn't distinctive In any particular com-
ponent.
Since the development of the 6-615 formulation, the work has been primarily
directed tovards Lncorporating a light floral character to the sideetream eroma
that would be simllar to that In Bright strip. Aa yet, no success has been
achieved.
