Dear Paul:
~en you meet Mr. Hill to-morrow, would you please
tell him that I had a telephone call last n~ght frmm Dr.
James Flexner, one of the outstanding ~hysicians in this
ccuntry, a nephew of Dr. Simon Flexner, formerly head of
Rockefeller Institute. He has done considerable work on
pathology and research and is outraged at the connotation
of the mousetrap we have been put in in what he c~lls the
fictitious relation of skin cancer via painting the backs of
mice. He volunteered that if in any ~y he could be helpful
he would put all the pressure of his name and abil~ty on any
committee, if anyone cared to invite him, for free. He is not
looking for a job, but he thinks scientifically reputable men
should knock down the hoax of the connotation and its implica-
tions that have been given wlde publicity in the Reader's
Digest, Time and Life.
Incident~olly, I thought both Leslie Gould's article
and the editorial in last night's World-Telegram and Sun were
most efficacious.
Will you please advise me over the weekend re an
appointment next w6ek.
Good luck and a11 best wishes.
As ever, ~
