Reviews two separate studies on atherosclerosis in ETS- exposed rabbits and cockerels, respectively. Highlights methods and results, and includes data for each. Emphasizes Zhu et al. finding of "ETS concentration-dependent increase of lipid deposits in aorta and pulmonary artery." Notes that Penn and Snyder cockerel study concluded that "daily FSS [Fresh Sidestream Smoke] exposure early in life accelerates atherosclerotic plaque development." Ends review with exclamation that Penn and Snyder study was "sponsored by CIAR!"

Offers background and preliminary comments on "Cigarette Smoking and Progression of Atherosclerosis" study, published in JAMA. Critiques categorization of ETS exposure and evaluation of ultrasound information measuring thickness of carotid artery walls. Disputes author claim that active smoking and ETS exposure are risk factors for atherosclerosis. Cites numerous studies to support position. Document appears to be incomplete.

Reviews paper titled, "The Tumorigenic Theory of Atherosclerosis." Ridicule's authors theory that disease is caused by genetic susceptibility, eliminating other possible causal agents such as smoking, lack of exercise, etc. Posits that while genetic factors may play a role in the etiology of atherosclerosis, "it is extremely unlikely that all his list of risk factors have no causal effect." Opines that author's research on subject will undermine his credibility regarding his work on smoking and lung cancer.
