Memo to The Executive Committee September 17, 1986 Page 2. Enclosed is a list of the individuals who testified and the testimony of Dr. A. Judson Wells whose focus was oh passive smoking. Also enclosed and submitted for the record is a copy of Dr. Wells' presentation before the Air Pollution Control Association on passive smoking mortality. The statement of government witnesses (EPA and DOE) were straightforward with the major focus being on the threat posed by radon. However, it was apparenr that Chairman Scheuer and Dr. Wells wished to establish their opinions that smoking restrictions or a complete ban on smoking should be implemented in federal buildings and aboard commercial aircraft. (It is also important however, to note that no legislation dealing with these topics is under the jurisdiction of Scheuer's subcommittee.) We will make every effort to ensure that the record is balanced by written statement. SDC/sr Enclosures
